Put in the Work When No One Else Will

Yesterday, the term "Corporate Monkey" dug a stronger foothold into what I do in my 9-5. A couple of years ago we moved away from measuring quantity and moved towards quality. The individual who pushed that initiative is no longer with the company. Yesterday we learned that we'd be moving back to quantity over quality. This was a big disappointment to me because I truly want to help people, not process a bunch of help cases as quickly as possible.

Today, something popped into my head that one of my favorite inspirational people has said - Put in the work that no one else will do - Greg Plitt. This is the key to advancing in life, no matter what it is that you want to do. I want my home based business to be my main source of income. So, in order to that do, I must put in the work that no one else will do. This is why those people still have their 9-5s.

This is also the mantra I need to do adopt in order to build the body that I want. I want to be fit, muscular, and cut. This requires time in the gym and eating right and a lot of people don't spend any time on either of the two.

I've also started on my first new thing to learn. It wasn't on my list to begin with, but I remembered hearing about it quite some time ago and it's something I've wanted to learn for a while - Lucid Dreaming. I've downloaded a 10 step e-book and will be spending the next 30 days on learning how to do this.

Additionally, I've thought about adding some links to my posts. So, to start, here are a few.

Next

Although I woke up this morning without the excitement and determination of yesterday, I was still able to tell myself that I'm a Millionaire. That is my goal - to be a millionaire in 5 years. The first step is reaching $1k a month with my home based business by the end of the year. But first, lets start with what I've learned over the last year and how I got to this starting point.

2012 has been unlike any other year. I dedicated it to a year of self growth with a mission to learn new things and conquer some fears. One specific goal was to read 1 book a month. I've read 10 books so far and getting ready to start my 11th. I've provided a list below of what I've read and my thoughts on each. The most important thing I've learned from reading all the books is ACTION. What the books have told me to do means nothing without action. This is why I've started this blog and why I've started to Act.

As a transman my self confidence has been stunted by living in the wrong body for so long. Over the last 2 years I've been able to "complete" my transition which has unlocked the opportunity to build my confidence. I started my journey with the reading of those books. I went paragliding, skydiving, and I've learned to ride a motorcycle. All of which have been boosts to my confidence. In addition to accomplishing these, I've created a new list - 12 Things I Want To Learn. I will spend 30 days learning each new thing.

Next - Why did I start my own business? I started my own business because I wanted a different life. I wanted more money, more time, more options, more opportunities, and to be free from debt. As I start building my business, the constant factor will be self growth. My business will grow when I grow.

The Begining

Let's start with a little bit about me. Although somewhat irrelevant to this journey, we can get to know each other.
I'm a 28 year old transman. I have a wife and son. We live in a small 2 bedroom apartment with 2 small dogs and I work in the corporate world, hence the name Corporate Monkey. I work in customer care and handle billing and technical cases for a large internet company. It's the best job I've had considering my previous jobs, but I can't help but feeling a lack of purpose and belonging.

Each day I wake up with enough time to get ready for work and then head out to catch the bus. Our limited income only affords us one car, leaving me to take public transit.

Today, October 9 2012, marks the day that this life is no longer acceptable. I want more out of life, more for my money, more for my wife and son. I want unlimited income potential to help those REALLY in need.

I'm setting out to change my life from corporate monkey bound by corporate chains to a life on my terms, free from chains.

Capture this moment. Capture this feeling to fall back on when you can no longer see the future you want. Keep stepping forward with purpose and intention. It just takes action.
